A visit to Stallion AI Services in which the students will learn about all aspects of stallion care, watch a live collection and visit the laboratory to watch the process behind the scenes.

Detailed Description
Stallion AI Services is the UK's largest equine semen storage and distribution centre, shipping semen worldwide and housing some of the worlds best stallions.
This trip will include:
1) An Intro to Stallion AI and Equine Assisted Reproduction
2) A Yard Tour in which you will see:
The design of the facilities
Stallion nutrition
Management of the stallion
How they meet client expectations
Colt Housing and Management
Teaser Mares
Biosecurity
Preparing a stallion for Semen Collection
Opportunity to meet the stallions, including Olympic 2x Gold Medallist Big Star, and Murkas Gem - the clone of an Olympic showjumper. (subject to them being onsite at the time of the visit)
3) Live Collection and Lab Session
Tour of the collection area and AV room
Biosecurity
Dummy vs Mare
Live semen collection from one of their stallions
Semen assessment in the lab
Introduction to processing chilled semen
4) An Introduction to their sister business Gemini Genetics, which works in collaboration with the US cloning company ViaGen to preserve tissue samples for genetic preservation.
